About us

Built on lived experience, compassion and brotherhood.

Heads Up Gentlemen is a non-profit charity committed to men’s mental health and wellbeing across Salford: a safe space where men can talk openly, connect with others and get support without judgement.

How it started

Our founder and CEO, Jeff Moritz, knows what it’s like to battle your own mental health. After seeing his GP, he waited a whole year before he received professional help, and he knew other men were waiting too, often alone.

So he started a group. At the very first session he wondered whether anyone would come. Since then more than a thousand men have reached out, and Heads Up Gentlemen has grown into a registered charity with its own family of groups.

Our members live with everything from anxiety and depression to ADHD, bipolar disorder and schizophrenia. What they find here is the same: people who understand, and a space that takes the clinical feel out of getting support.
